Meet Greg Klazura – GEC Volunteer
“GEC is really making a difference. It’s easy to make your organization sound important on paper, but after observing the ECP’s in action for over a month in Nyakibale Hospital, I felt like their training truly improved the lives of rural Ugandans.”
Through his volunteer work with Global Emergency Care, Greg has seen firsthand the impact GEC is making when he observed Emergency Care Practitioners (ECP’s) at Nyakibale Hospital in 2015. As a third year medical student at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he decided to volunteer to explore his interest in emergency medicine, specifically with an organization that was doing meaningful work in low resource settings. Greg further explains, “GEC is really making a difference. It’s easy to make your organization sound important on paper, but after observing the ECP’s in action for over a month in Nyakibale Hospital, I felt like their training truly improved the lives of rural Ugandans.” ECP’s have provided care in a time sensitive manner to critically ill patients who could have had a different outcome without their quick and effective treatment.
