Since 2009, Global Emergency Care has been equipping Emergency Care Providers (ECPs) in Uganda with the life-saving skill of point-of-care ultrasound. In low-resource emergency departments, where advanced imaging is often unavailable, bedside ultrasound stands as the single most powerful diagnostic tool—enabling providers to make rapid, accurate decisions that directly save lives.
Since 2009, Global Emergency Care (GEC) has been at the forefront of teaching point-of-care ultrasound to Emergency Care Providers (ECPs) in Uganda. In low-resource emergency departments, where advanced imaging is often unavailable, bedside ultrasound has become the single most vital diagnostic tool—empowering providers to make rapid, life-saving decisions.
Through GEC’s training, our ECPs have become local experts in bedside ultrasound, using this versatile technology to diagnose traumatic injuries, ectopic pregnancies, pericardial effusions, pneumonia, and countless other emergent conditions. With every scan, they strengthen their ability to serve as effective frontline providers, delivering care that saves lives when every second matters.
Ultrasound is indispensable: portable, versatile, safe, and far more affordable – yet still costly to maintain. Your support ensures that these machines remain in the hands of skilled emergency providers, enabling accurate diagnoses, safe procedures, and the training of the next generation of ECPs in Uganda. Together, we can sustain this life-saving capacity where it is needed most.
