Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, Masaka District

Global Emergency Care (GEC) has built a strong and enduring partnership with Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, one of Uganda’s sixteen major regional referral public hospitals, to strengthen the country’s emergency medical workforce. Since before the COVID-19 pandemic, GEC has provided continuous training for hospital staff and intern doctors in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, and other critical skills. This long-term collaboration reflects GEC’s commitment to building human capital in emergency medicine, ensuring that frontline providers are equipped to respond effectively to life-threatening conditions in a region serving millions of Ugandans.

By investing in Masaka’s emergency care capacity, GEC is helping to transform one of Uganda’s largest referral hospitals into a hub of innovation and excellence in emergency medicine. With donor support, this partnership will continue to expand access to high-quality emergency care, reduce preventable deaths, and build a stronger, more resilient health system for generations to come.
