GECC strives to create quality sustainable emergency care systems in developing nations that traditionally have lacked these services. Our approach is to partner with already existing hospitals that are interested in improving emergency care services. GECC physicians then spend time working alongside the local medical providers to perform a needs assessment that allows us to determine which services are required most urgently. Together with the administration of the local hospital, we begin planning and designing an emergency department that will meet both the current needs and projected future needs of the community. Once funds are raised to construct and equip the new emergency department, GECC physicians continue to work with local providers and run an extended training course to educate them in all aspects of emergency care. The final component of each project is to work with outlying health centers to ensure that patients seen at these facilities can get appropriate first aid care and be transported to the hospital in a timely manner as needed.
